Beers and Baseball

I love me some baseball!!  An evening at the ballpark tops my list of favorite activities.  There is just something so magical and fun about going to a game.  And it's the only sport that I can watch and know what's happening.  It's so easy to understand.  3 strikes your out, you score when you make it home, what's a girl not to love about it?  Plus it has it's own song!!  So that's what I got to do last Saturday with my friend Carrie.  She loves the Yankees!
First stop, getting the gameday treats.  A corn dog and a beer!  A yankees fan and a former New Yorker gave Carrie the skinny on defending herself from the hecklers if they gave her any trouble.  Plus some great advice that all young 20-somethings should spend a year in New York, even if you have to wait tables or bar tend.  Carrie lived there, loved it.  Afterall, I have past my early twenties, and don't think I would like a career change.  It is on one of my places to visit though!!

We had great seats, that's 3rd base!!  About 15 rows up, thanks Carrie!!  My phone camera, not so great.  Atleast I made an attempt to try to take some pics, I just should have brought a real one.  We had some good people on our row, so we didn't have to use the New Yorkers advice.

Rangers won that night!!  So that was fun.  CJ Wilson didn't pitch.  What a cutie!!  This is a google pic, although let's just pretend that I took it, and the smile and wave is just for me!!

Post game fun, Sherlocks.  We had some great people watching and laughing.  Like the random guy dancing alone.  He would look around and lift up his shirt to show off his abs.  He must be pretty proud because he did this multiple times, and it was always funny.

What a fun night!!

Happy Mothers Day Momma!!

So I happen to know this lady
she's pretty cool, you see
She taught me how to tie my shoes
and put band aids on my knee

She read me goodnight stories
and let me play outside
I always had a lot of fun
playing with mom poolside

And as I grew she always knew
the perfect thing to do
She loves me in spite of everything
as all good mommy's do

My mommy with her great nephew Christmas 2010

Note: I stole this photo from a photo she was tagged in on facebook.
We always forget to take pictures!!

Happy Mother's Day Momma!!  Thanks for all you do!!  I love you!!

I also want to wish some other very important Mommy's and special women
in my life a very Happy Mother's day.  Grandma, Meemaw,
Aunt Barbara, Aunt Gail, and Heather.  Thanks for loving your babies, grandbabies,
neices, and cousins!!  You've taught me a lot about love and the importance of family.

Out with Old, In with the New!!

So, I accomplished a milestone in my life, purchasing my first car.  I'm not gonna lie, I have had my very own new car before and it was fantastic!!  Although, the big difference is, I didn't buy it, I didn't even pay a penny for it!!  It was courtesy of Mom and Dad.  Did I appreciate it?  Probably not much as I should have.  Am I forever grateful?  Yes!!  And I must say, I used and abused that car, to the tune of 162,987 miles worth in just shy of 8 years!!  This is the last picture and only picture I have on me right now, and it's not even a very good one.  This picture is circa 2008, I'm guessing.  She's the white Honda coupe in the garage.

I must say, that although I have been in need of a new car, car shopping hasn't been at the top of my list.  And for good reason, cars are expensive!!  I liken car shopping to my experience in Vegas!!

Something exciting, and supposed to be fun, but absolutely willing to take you for all you have!! So many choices, flashy lights, pretty buttons, glitz and glamour, just waiting for you to get sucked in!! And then you come home, wondering what happened?  How in the world was it so easy to spend that cash??

One simple answer, the flashy lights and pretty buttons are hard to resist!!

Yes, I did just compare my first trip to Vegas to buying my new car.  It's spontaneous, exciting, terrifying, and fun all at the same time.  I must say, Vegas was much cheaper, I didn't walk away with years of monthly payments!!  I am pretty sure when I drove off the lot, I heard the same sound of slot machines paying out a nice sum of money.  Except I was the one feeding the machine, and the dealership was the person next to me who put in a single quarter and hit the jackpot.

But I definitely walked out of it with the same feeling.  How much did I spend?  Did I spend too much?  Was it worth it?  And the answer in both cases is yes, absolutely worth it!  Why?  Because I did them all on my own!!  And of course, in both cases played on the safe side.  Since my car was so good to me the first time, I had no choice but to go for another Honda Civic.  This time it's 4 doors, with a little more glitz and glamour.  Not to mention, with this phrase in mind "miles per gallon"!!!

So here's to my first car!!  She was wonderful, she never let me down, and I am sad to see her go.  Thanks Mom and Dad for giving me such a great first car!!  You always know best, and I hope this new one will be just as wonderful.

Flip Flops and Fried Pickles

So, it's been a while since a made a post.  Yes, I am new at this, yes my life is not that interesting, and yes, I lack the gumption to take pictures!!  I think it's genetic, and my mom would totally agree to this.  However, I do enjoy writing!!.  I came up with this name pretty soon after starting, what may be the short life of my blogging career.

Why Flip Flops and Fried Pickles?  Well, only because they are two of my most favorite random things ever!!  Flip Flops because they are pretty much a staple year round in Texas. Plus, I am not a fancy girl, give me a pair of flip flops over heels or designer shoes.  Although, I must say, my sister is probably the flip flop queen!!  She has been known to sport flip flops in the dead of winter visiting family in Tulsa, Oklahoma, just because she's a rock star like that!!  I'm pretty sure that all she packed in her suitcase in the Christmas Blizzard of 2009 was flip flops!!  Although, I can not confirm because I did not make it up there due to major roads shutting down between Dallas and Tulsa.  However, she still has all her toes, so my cousin must have been so kind as to lend her a pair of warm shoes.  She probably had to borrow socks too!

Fried Pickles, because it's just goes, not to mention, fried pickles are fabulous!!  Maybe it's the speech therapist in me trying to target the initial F sound in a phrase.  Or maybe it's that our Rock Band name for country music is "Sweet Pickles".  But anyways, it has been stuck in my head so, I'm rolling with it.

Anyways, so here ya go.  The blog that is nameless, for now anyways, is no longer nameless!!  I will consider this an accomplishment, especially since I added some pictures this time.  My page really doesn't look the way I want it to yet.  I am not handy with computers and figuring this out but hopefully I will sooner or later.

Rock Band, Electric Wires, and Gospel Quartet

This weekend turned out to be pretty much like any other weekend, except with a few interesting and funny moments.  Friday, I went over to my friends house.  We enjoyed our favorite adult beverage, had some girl talk, and played Rock Band!!

Now, I'm not much of a video game player.  I liked to play the Mario brothers games and Tetris when I was a kid. I have played the Wii sports games a few times and think they are just great.  So, as you can see, I'm not really one to judge a video game, but Rock Band has to be one of the best!!  I like that it's musical and doesn't involve impossible missions with weapons and trying to figure out which button does what on those crazy controllers.  Regardless of how unrealistic it is, I do believe that I would make a great guitarist or drummer!!

While my friend and I were busy rocking out, our other friend was not having as much fun.  This friend had to have a special test done this weekend.  A special test that involved placing 26 electrical wire things on her head with purple glue!!  Not so fun for her, it gets even worse, she had to wear these electrodes for 48 hours!!  Poor friend!!

So I went to visit this friend this weekend as she had these electrical impulse detecting contraptions all over her head.  So we had no choice other than to think of all the funny things we could do to make this test more interesting.  There were 2 cameras in her home throughout the weekend.  Here are just a few things that we thought to do when someone else is watching you, ya know, just in case you ever find yourself in the same situation.

1.) Host your own cooking show
2.) Create your own version of paranormal activities.  Unfortunately, this idea involved sophisticated pulley systems and special lighting to pull off such effects.
3.) Use the footage to shop your own reality show.  I think they would put anything on TV these days, weather it's interesting to most or not. (AKA the Jersey Shore.  That show is a total train wreck if you ask me)

**NOTE** With cameras on you for a whole weekend, you do have to watch the things you do when no one is looking!!  I will let your imagination roll with that one.

On Sunday friend was freed from the electrical wires!!  So, what do you do when you can get out of the house on a Sunday evening (with purple glue flakes still stuck in your hair) after a weekend confined to the house??  You go to friends, cutest little church ever and listen to a Gospel Quartet!!  I do have to say I love cute little ole men singing old Gospel music every now and then!!

So that's was my weekend! No place I had to be, nothing I had to do, and just a whole lot of laughing and of course touring the world with my excellent drumming skills!!

A Little Bit About Me

In starting this new adventure, I think a good place to start is a little bit about me.

Religious beliefs:  I am a Christian.  I stumble a lot, but I know He is always there to help dust off my knees and get back up again.
Family:  Loving Mom and Dad, always there for you in a pinch, love you no matter what, and did a pretty fantastic job raising me, if I do say so myself.  One fantabulous sister “sissy!!” we can literally laugh about almost anything, and of course fight about anything, but at the end of the day she’s also a best friend.  And not to mention the most wonderful extended family!!  Grandparents who are completely magical and turn their kitchens, backyards, and camping into the greatest adventures ever.  Spectacular aunts and uncles that teach you games, let you make a mess doing crafts, drag you on the sled on a snow day, take you for boat rides, and let you swim in their backyard.  Cousins who are like a big brother, big and little sisters, who were there to experience the magicalness and terificness of the great times with grandparents, parents, and aunts and uncles.  And the cutest baby cousin with the most adorable little laugh you ever heard!!
Occupation:  Speech- Language Pathologist Assistant.  I absolutely love my job and am completely blessed!!  I do realize I use words that are not actually words.  In my opinion, magicalness is a completely appropriate adjective for what I wanted to describe above.  However, I would not teach this to one of my patients if we were working on adjectives!!  Please do not also judge my use of run on sentences, fragments, and other errors.
Age:  26, and loving almost each day!!  26 is a good age.  I do favor even numbers.  Maybe this has something to do with being born on the eighth day of June in the year 1984.  I even like the TV volume to be on an even number!!  Weird, I know, but I know there are plenty of people out there with the same affinity for even numbers.
Pets:  One darling miniature pinscher, Izzy.  She is 5 years old and is always ready to snuggle.  She is not your typical black and tan pinscher.  She is a red brown color with the silliest personality.  She is persistent and spunky.  She would tell you that she strikes fear in the heart of all strangers with her ferocious bark, bite, and growl.  But I will tell you that after about a minute of meeting a new person, she would snuggle them.
Relationship status:  Single and No thank you, not interested in the dating world at the moment.  This is my time to figure what I want to accomplish, and learn more things about myself and about the world before I go down that road again.  I have been divorced for about a year.  I used to think this is something I wouldn’t really like to share with people.  But then I realized, I wasn’t the only girl in their mid- twenties who went through it and certainly won’t be the last.  After all, marriage, divorce, those pieces of my life were some wonderful times, sad times, but taught me a lot!!
Places I’ve lived: Tulsa Oklahoma, Kingwood Texas, San Marcos Texas, and Frisco Texas.
Living accommodations: The cutest apartment complex ever!!  Unfortunately, my individual unit is not as cute due to my lack of decorating in the year that I have lived here.  The sad part is that I can literally walk to Target, Kirklands, and a ton of other places to find awesome home décor.  That is also another reason I love this place.  I can walk to get groceries and to plenty of restaurants.  There is even and Old Navy and a DSW!!  Luckily, I am not a big shopper because it would be way to easy to do some serious damage to my budget.
Things I love: Cooking and eating, traveling, snow skiing, camping and lake activities, running and workouts, and playing the piano.
**Note** Unfortunately, all of these are done sporadically, but does not change my love for such activities!!
Random things about me:  I have run one half marathon, it was totally fun!!  I have been to Transnitria.  Yes, this is a real country!  I believe, and this is sad that I am not for sure, that it’s around Russia, Ukraine, Moldova somewhere around there. Obviously, I am not good at geography.  I was privileged to put brand new shiny shoes on the precious feet of hundreds of children in many of the orphanages in that country with some very amazing people.  I can hang candy canes off my nose, amazing I know!!  My voice hasn’t changed since I was 5, which actually is an advantage when telemarketers want to speak to the “head of the household”.  One of my biggest fears is automatic car washes.  I have to lock the doors, put on the parking brake, and blast the music.
That just about does it, some personal and not so personal information about me.  Since I do not have a theme to write about, I’m sure that I will touch on all of these areas of my life at one time or another.  I think I have also come up with a name which equally represents the how random this might actually get.  I hope everyone is ready to enjoy this weekend as much as I am, may it be fun and relaxing!!

So, Im a blogger now!!??

Hello!! I am so glad that you clicked and came to check out my attempt at blogging!! Yes, I know The Blog that is Nameless, For Now Anyways, is not really sucking you in, is it?  I'm okay with that.  I don't know what direction this blog is going to take, or what kind of feel it's going to have yet.  So I can't possible come up with a fabulously cute and appropriately fitting name!!  I also can not promise that you will find whatever name I come up with in the near or distant future to be fabulously cute.

I've wanted to try this for a while but just haven't gotten around to it yet.  I follow some friends that do a fantastic job and make it look so fun!!  And in all honesty, today was the perfect day to start because I seriously needed a valid reason to put off the cleaning and grocery shopping for a few hours or, perhaps another day!!  You will probably hear about my dog, my family, my friends, my job, and my failed attempts and successes at recipes or creating my own recipes.  I am hoping that blogging will inspire me to try some new activities, start decorating projects, and take more pictures.  After all, I will need something to inspire me to write and share about!!  It may be more of a journal for me but I hope you will find something funny, or stop by when you need a valid excuse to put off the grocery shopping and the not so fun chores.
